Welcome to My Online Book World.
I love being surrounded my books. In my den I have over a thousand books. I know that because I was keeping track of what I had until I got tired of keying the information into my computer. One of my first endeavors in my early days as an interior designer was to help people create a space in their house for books. It was a great job for me because the clients were mostly readers who had a dedicated room, a den, for all their beloved books. Even after I switched to kitchen and bath design, I sometimes had clients request help with an office or a multi-purpose room which also meant dedicating space to books.
I love books because I love stories. I love listening to people tell me about their lives. Listening is a skill I developed early in life. It comes in handy as a designer and as a writer.
I can't envision a live without writing. It's what grounds me. It helps me understand what I believe. Like so many writers, writing allows me to know what I am thinking. Life has become a melting pot for my creative energies. I fell in love with design as a young kid helping my dad repair furniture for the neighbors. I went through a career as a computer programmer/data analyst but eventually my design interest took over and I returned to college for a degree in Interior Design. And now, I've decided to focus more on writing and traveling.
We all have a story within us. Last year I completed a family history that talked about my sisters and me when we were kids. This year I'll be working on revising that book into a memoir.
While I am more comfortable writing non-fiction, I do enjoy writing short storis and have one novel that I have almost completed a rough draft. My main fictional character, Brandy, is a designer. It's a good idea to start with design being part of the novel. It's what I know and in reality, I am never not a designer; it moves through space with me, just like my need to write does. I enjoy helping clients take control over their interior space by de-cluttering and using their blank wall space to tell their story. There's little difference between a blank wall and a blank page. They both call out for someone to bring them alive.
One last thing before I'm off this page, I offer a free book review to new authors. Just email me at: clarekr@hotmail.com.
Thanks so much for the visit.
